ThePhotographer took a trip to Vienna back in 2010. He went to the Freud Museum because it’s kind of fascinating to see how the good doctor lived back then. It is common knowledge that ThePhotographer and the good doctor have the same Alma Mater, sort of. He attended and taught at Clark University in Worcester MA and ThePhotographer has attended UMASS Amherst but not at the same time. Both schools are part of the state run colleges and universities so ipso facto they have the same Alma Mater.
The museum is located at 19 Berggasse and must not be confused with the other Frued Museum in London. This museum is in his old digs. The apartment is filled with furniture, books, photographs and other memorabilia from the time he had his practice there. Enough to make any Freud fanatic weak in the knees.
The proof – Clark University diploma and the chair the good doctor must’ve sat in when treating patients. The most memorable piece of furniture is the couch. As can be seen in the pictures below it’s not very comfy because it is made of iron framing covered with metal sheet! The mind boggles!
The museum is worth the visit because it’s really captivating even though ThePhotographer and the good doctor didn’t share the same major.
As ThePhotographer made his way out down the stairs to the street he noticed that there are still residents in the building. Taking a closer look at the names there was a Kafka living at the same address.
Again – the mind boggles!
